How to Join the US Air Force Academy
Before you can be able to join the US Air Force Academy, there are some qualifications you need to possess for you to be given admission into the Academy. Now, let’s look at the basic requirements to join the US Air Force Academy.
Basic Requirements Needed to Join the US Air Force Academy
- You must be at least 17 years old and must not have passed your 23rd birthday by July 1 of the year you enter the Academy.
- You must be a United States citizen.
- You must not be married and must not have any dependents.
- You must also be of good moral character.
Academic Requirements to Join the US AirForce Academy
- Four years of English Language (with a college preparatory class in writing)
- Four years of mathematics – You must also have a strong background in geometry, algebra, trigonometry, and pre-calculus.
- Four years of science – Lab-based and should include biology, chemistry, and physics.
- Three years of social studies (to include a course in U.S. history)
- Two years of a modern foreign language – The US Air Force Academy looks forward to modern foreign languages with an emphasis on strategic languages such as Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, and Russian. While not a modern foreign language, Latin is acceptable. American Sign Language is not an acceptable course.
- One year of computer study – You must have a computer science course or related courses that focus on coding, programming, and web development.

Please note that you are to provide a letter of recommendation. Though it is not compulsory, it is strongly encouraged. You may submit two letters from individuals who can testify to your character, integrity, leadership abilities, and experiences.
