Nigerian Navy Salary 2025, Ranks And Allowances

Nigerian Navy Salary 2025 is one of topics most lovers of the Nigerian Navy do talk about. The problem now is that most people don’t actually know how much the members of this organization are paid due to some increase in the salary of the Federal workers because of the increment in the minimum wage.

Now, not just the minimum wage, there is also a 25 – 35 percent increase in the salary of the armed forces of Nigeria which the Nigerian Navy is also part of. In this post, we will be looking at the the Nigerian Navy salary, their ranks and the allowances they are being paid.

Nigerian Navy Salary

Before we talk about the salary and allowances, let’s first look at the ranks in the Nigerian Navy.

Nigerian Navy Ranks

The Nigerian Navy ranks are divided into two categories, the commissioned officers and the non commissioned officers. Those who joined the Nigerian Navy as a graduate are the ones tagged as commissioned officers while those that joined the Navy with SSCE, ND and NCE are tagged as non commissioned.

Those who joined the the Nigerian Navy with SSCE certificate are given the rank of Ordinary Seaman, NCE and ND certificate holders are given the rank of Seaman while those with HND and BSC are given the rank of Sub lieutenant. Below are the complete ranks in the Nigerian Navy.

Nigerian Navy Salary

Just like the way the Nigerian Navy ranks are categorized into two, each rank goes with a certain amount of money. Note that the graduates are paid higher than the non graduates in the Nigerian Navy. For example, Those with SSCE certificate holders are paid about N103,000 as starting salary, NCE and ND certificate holders are paid about N110,000 as starting salary while the HND and BSC certificate holders are paid about N240,000 as starting salary. Nigerian Navy Salary And Ranks for commissioned officers

  1. Admiral is paid N3,000,299 monthly
  2. Vice-Admiral earns N2,876,091 monthly
  3. Rear Admiral collects N1,966,393  monthly
  4. Commodore is paid N844,570 monthly salary
  5. Captain Earns N558,074 monthly
  6. Lieutenant collects N492,494 as monthly
  7. Sub-Lieutenant is paid N317,459 monthly
  8. Midshipman earns N240,199 monthly

Nigerian Navy Salary and ranks For Non Commissioned Officers

  1. Master Warrant Officer is paid N155,655 Monthly.
  2. Warrant Officer Collects N170,572 monthly.
  3. Petty Officer is paid N140,254 monthly.
  4. Leading Seaman earns N128,659 monthly.
  5. Able Seaman Collects N117,850 monthly.
  6. Seaman is Paid N111,005 monthly.
  7. Ordinary Seaman earns N103,851 monthly.
  8. Trainee is paid N15,220 monthly.

The figure above is the current salary structure of the Nigerian Navy. Don’t forget, there are also some allowances that they are also entitled to which we are going to be listing below.

Nigerian Navy Allowances

  • Clothing Allowance – ₦20,000 per year
  • House Rent Allowance – ₦40,000 per month
  • Transport Allowance: up to ₦50,000 per month.
  • Operation allowance up to ₦75,000.
  • Special force allowance – up to ₦45,000 monthly.

Apart from the allowances mentioned above, there is one other allowance known as training allowance. The Nigerian Navy training allowance is only meant for those who are still undergoing training to become part of the military that’s why it’s not included on the list. Below is the Nigerian Navy training allowance for each qualification.

  • Nigerian Navy Training Allowance

The Nigerian Navy training allowance for recruits under training with SSCE certificate is about ₦15,000 monthly, ND and NCE holders are paid about ₦25,000 as training allowance while the HND and BSC certificate holders are paid about ₦35,000 monthly as their training allowance.
